Other Benefits of Bacteria

Bacteria is inside us and helps our digestive system.  But how might bacteria help us indirectly?  How can bacteria be helpful to our environment?

Read the following article from Science Daily
Microbes Produce Fuels Directly from Biomass and explain the benefits of bacteria to our ecosystem.

  1. From reading this article, Scientist have found a way of making a reasonable fueling gas, by microbes. Since our Econonmy is doing poorly, we need scalable resources, so we can conserve oil. Bacteria in our ecosystem is helpful in some ways ,Because first it can fight of viruses, and other things and it could also prevent the spread of germs that can be lethal to humans. Putting bacteria into biodesel would do nothing because it's also full of bacteria breaking down chemicals.

  2. When I read this article, I was a little confused as to how they could make fueling gas out of microbes. This just goes to show that our world is evolving each and everyday. Bacteria can be helpful to the environment by having bacteria that eats away dead plants and animals that could cause harmful bacteria to get into living organism's systems causing damage on those organisms affected.

  3. I have found from reading this article that bacteria is now being used in a useful way to help us. Scientists are using bacteria to make biodiesel oil they are using microbes which wouldn’t do anything because it all so full of bacteria breaking down chemicals, that it wouldn’t work. But that doesn’t mean that bacteria isn’t useful because everyday bacteria is breaking down dead animals and plants and if we didn’t have bacteria then we would be surrounded by trash and have nowhere to put it, so bacteria can be very useful for the environment.

  4. Using E.coli bacteria, according to the article, is an economical way to produce biofuels. They are genetically modifying the bacteria to preserve its fatty acids. This mimics our current petroleum, which is made from the fatty acids of dead plants and animals. This shows that bacteria are beneficial in many ways.

  5. this week we have just started our bacteria and virus unit and hvae began to learn about bacteria. Before, when is was younger i thought all bacteria is bad and this week we learned that most are good. This article shows one of the many great uses for bacteria. Scientists have been able to make E. coli bacteria trn food waste into biodesil. This is interesting because E. coli usually causes sickness and now i may solve the oil crisis.

  6. According to this article, bacteria proves beneficial in which it is used as a way to produce biofuels. The bacteria has been altered genetically in order to preserve various fatty acids. This preserves our environment as bacteria is a thing of nature, unlike various chemicals that could be used instead.

  7. This article shows a way how bacteria can be good. Scientist have made E. coli that can produce biofuels by microbes. The E. coli use fatty acids to do this but the biofuels are produced directly from the bacteria. If the scientists can learn how to get the bacteria to produce faster then this could really help our oil problem. The E. coli could help the envirorment so much we could get rid of fossil fuels and only use this new biofuel. I think the scientists should keep working on this and learn how to mass produce the E. coli.
