Got Milk?

Read the following article:  Got Milk? How? - Scientists are tracking down the first people who squeezed this nutritious liquid out of animals thousands of years ago by Emily Sohn.  Evolutionarily, why do we drink milk?  Why did only babies drink milk?  How come now all ages of people drink milk?  What are its nutritious benefits?

  1. Mostly everyone drinks milk, because it is used in a lot of things. Scientists are looking back and trying to see where milk started. Milk was found on some very old pots and they are also looking into very old milk making mammals to find any clues to how milk came to be. Early people couldn’t digest milk because they never had to, but as time went on, people started extracting milk form cows, goats, ect. so people began to drink milk. And from there peoples bodies were able to digest the milk. Scientists now think that milk drinking began in Northern Europe.

  2. This was an interesting post because we use milk a lot. Without milk, a lot of us would be unhealthy because it contains essential elements that keep us healthy and strong. Scientists began to look back on what animals first starting producing milk. They found that the first things that produced milk were female mammals to their young. Scientists also discovered that baby humans have lactase, which allows them to drink a lot of their mothers milk. Around age two and after, the lactase level drops and allows them to not want it as badly. Based genetic patterns, scientists believe that milk drinking started in Northern Europe.

  3. People drink milk because it is nutritious and it is used in many foods. At first only babies drank milk because they were the only ones who could digest it. Milk has lots of lactose and people need an enzyme, lactase, to break it down. Babies started losing lactase at around age 2. Now, thanks to a mutation in our genes, many children and adults can digest lactose.

  4. Originally, humans were not able to drink milk as adults. This is because as a child grows older, its levels of lactase drop harshly (lactase is the enzyme that allows us to digest milk and dairy products). However, thousands of years ago, some people developed a mutated gene that kept lactase levels up in adulthood, allowing adults to drink milk and eat dairy products.

  5. Milk is a key reason that humans have survived as long as they have. The ability to have a steady source of nutrition come from an animal, without having to kill said animal, was very useful. However, people could not always drink milk as much as they do now. In early time, levels of lactase, the enzyme which dissolves the sugars in milk, dropped rapidly after the age of 2. Due to a mutation, people can now drink it even after that young age.

  6. We all know that dairy products are used in many food items such as butter, yogurt, cheese, cream and ice cream. Where would we be without the dairy producers? Milk keeps us strong and healthy our bones defiantly benefit from milk. Babies have a higher tolerance for milk without the unpleasant sick feeling. This was because human baby's have a lot of lactase in their systems, this allows them to drink the milk without the "side affects". Later when the baby is around two years old the lactase levels drop which causes a lower tolerance for milk in adults. It is believed that milk was first being drank in Northern Europe.

  7. People today use milk to get the essential nutrients we need. Its in very many food items like yogurt, ice cream, butter, and many other things. Milk helps keeps the bones healthy and strong. Milk has lots of lactose and people need the enzyme lactase to break it down. Scientist tried to find where milk started. They think it started in Northern Europe when people started extracting it from cows and goats.

  8. People drink milk mostly because it benefits there nutrition and is used in a wide variety of food.Nutritious values are that it can help build up your bones and keep us healthy. Babies only drank milk because when a human baby is born it has a high amount of lactase and can drink a large amount of milk without it effecting them in a negative way. Today a lot of people drink milk for the nutritious reasons. Scientist found that taking milk from animals for drinking was derived from Northern Europe.

  9. People drink milk as an everyday drink. It has the proper nutrients for the body. Scientists are trying to find out when milk came into the lives of many people. When one thinks of milk they think of cows, but milk does not only come from cows. It also comes from goats. Scientists found out that the idea of milking a cow to get its milk came from Northern Europe. Milk contains a lot of lactose and everyone needs lactase to break down that lactose. That's why only babies were able to drink milk because adults supposedly did not have lactase.

  10. Everyone drinks milk because it can help us in so many ways. It helps keep our bones strong by using the natural calcium and also gives us a good amount of vitamin D. It can also prevent osteoporosis, hyper tension, and colon cancer. Babies drink milk for the balanced amount of lactate in it and the nutrition in it to help kick start their growth. The benefits of milk don't change no matter what your age which is also why people continue to drink it regularly.

  11. Milk has been around for longer than any scientists know. Scientists are looking back at ancient mammals to see if they originally produced milk. Milk is full of nutrients such as calcium and vitamin d. Many drink milk that came originally from cows, but milk also comes from goats. All mammals should continue to drink milk throughout their lives because the nutrients are constant and always beneficial.

  12. People drink milk because it is cheap and nutritious and has many calories which could count as food. Milk also has fewer dangerous bacteria then water from the rivers. Babies only drank milk because they have plenty of lactase, which allows them to drink the milk. As they get older the lactase levels lower. Since the beginning of milking cows, many people have the ability to keep drinking it throughout their life. People that are lactose intolerant can still have milk products such as yogurt.

  13. Milk is very nutritious because it is full of calories, fat, protein, calcium and other nutrients. People drink milk because it is affordable and does not contain any dangerous bacteria's like other types of water products. Babies drink milk because it contains lactase; a type of protein sugar that helps them grow. As they become older, that lactase level lowers and becomes harder for some adults to digest. People that can't handle digesting milk can also be able to eat milk products. Some of these products are cheese and yogurt.

  14. Milk is found in so many of the things we eat or drink. While obviously many drink it by the glass, it is also found in a majority of your staple foods. Milk is put in cheese, yogurt, ice cream, breads, cookies…. and so many more. Scientists say that milk was one of the world’s first super-foods. Milk is high is nutrients such as calcium, as well as high in fat, protein, and calories An added plus about milk is that is it could be a stable food source because the animal didn’t have to be killed them. Drinking the milk of animals such as cows and goats was a huge agricultural step for people.
Babies were the only ones to drink their mother’s milk for a long time because they had high levels of lactase, an enzyme that breaks down lactose found in the milk. Once the levels of lactase went down at around the age of 2, ingesting the milk would cause a person to get stomachaches and such.
Now milk is a large part of our diet because many people evolved into becoming lactose tolerant…. Yeah for milk!

  15. Milk is found in many everyday foods and drinks, such as cheese, yogurt, ice cream, and much more. Milk is our main source of calcium, it is also high in protein and fat. The calcium in the milk makes our bones stronger! Babies drink mother's breast milk because it contains lactase which is a type of protein sugar that helps them to grow. People who drink milk continually benefit from the positive outcomes.

We drink different types of milk from different types of animals, the most common is a cow. We drink milk because it is packed with vitenman D which helps bring strong bones. Babies drink milk to help them develop and it helps them digest. Also, babies dont have any teeth so they cant chew anything.People of all ages drink milk because it helps the digestive system and provides us with a healthy heart. Milk has alot of vitenmans and prpteins in it which does the body good and plays a part in keeping us healthy. that is why people of al ages drink milk.

  17. Long ago humans could not be able to break down milk, much less drink it. It was not until the human body was able to produce an enzyme call lactase which allowed our bodies to break down lactose which is was not natural for our bodies to deal with this. Unfortunately, lactase starts to drop when you are at age 2. This is bad because it can cause diarrhea and stomach cramps. So it is obvious that you won't be able to drink nor eat any dairy products. The ability to drink milk has been an important survival for the human race for 8,00 to 10,000 and still no one knows why.

  18. Milk helps the human body in many ways like, build up your bones and gets them stronger, gives you vitamin D and other nutrients. Babies only drank milk because when a human baby is born it has a high amount of lactase and can drink a large amount of milk without it effecting them in a negative way. People all ages drink milk, because they either like the taste, it benefits you in many ways, but the nutrients in the milk helps the body, making the human survive longer

  19. Babies drink a lot of milk because their bodies produce a high amount of lactase which allows them to drink large amounts of milk without the harmful affects caused by lactose. Milk is now consumed by all ages because of its natural abundance of calcium and vitamin D.

  20. Milk is given to babies to drink because they have can create a lot of lactase. The milk doesn't only provide as a drink, it gives nutrients like calcium that are essential to the babies growth. Today more and more people drink milk for nutrition or as a refreshing drink.

  21. Almost everyone drinks milk, because it’s healthy and a bass for a lot of foods. Scientists are looking back to see where milk started. Milk was once found in old pots, and these were some clues that they used to indentify were mammals knew how to get milk or where it came from. The early cavemen never had to learn how to drink milk or what it was because they never needed to. But as time went on people started learning how to farm milk and get it from animals such as cows. So as this started to happen many people started drinking milk. Many people think it started in Europe. So I guess we can thank them for are milk!

  22. This bolg is intresting, I never knew some people use to get very sick from drinking milk. We drink milk because it is full of calories, fat, protien and calcium. Babies only drank milk first because it helped them digest. People drink tons of difrent types of milk and not all people can drink them. When you are a baby you have lactase but after the age of two thst level drops.
