Watch Starbucks new YouTube Video.

What is Starbucks greatest environmental liability?  What percent of cups walk out the door?  What new initiative is Starbucks doing with all new stores?  What is Starbucks doing to solve this problem?  What have they done in New York?  What can you do?

  1. Starbucks is one of the few major corporations in the United States that wants to address their impact on the earth. The corporation has set "green" standards for their opening stores and products. By 2015 starbucks wants to make all of their cups 100% recyclable. They have recently done a study in New York where they realized that their cups are similar enough to cardboard that they could be recycled as it. Starbucks is taking these measures because they have realized that the future of Starbucks coffee depends on a grade of coffee bean that is becoming harder to find in South America because of climate change. Because of this, they want to encourage people to recycle and become more aware of the possible impacts that climate change could have on people's daily lives if nothing is done to combat it.

  2. The goal is to make all the Starbucks company's cups either 100% reusable or recyclable. How many Starbucks stores do you see when traveling either by car or foot? Coffee is very popular here therefore many people come to Starbucks to get a nice rich cup of coffee. From year to year there have been many different things that are trying to help out our environment they talk about front door recycling and more. These are just little ways that can help our earth. In New York City there was a 2010 cup recycling pilot. This was trying to promote the recycling of the Starbucks cups. Starbucks produces 500 billion of the paper and plastic cups per year. About 80% of their cups walk out of the door with their customers. If these Starbucks cups keep piling up everywhere(to to mention all the other trash) our earth is going to have even more problems than it already have. So, we have to take care of the earth even if it means putting a cup in a different container.

  3. Starbucks wants to achieve a goal to make their cups 100% recyclable in order to help the environment. To achieve this, they create a cup that will be 100% recyclable by 2012 and have 25% of the cups in their stores be reusable. They also want to use ethical sourcing by buying and serving 100% grown and ethically traded coffee. They can achieve this as well by purchasing 100% of their coffee through ethical sourcing practices and after wards, invest in a better future for farmers and their communities by nearly doubling funding to organizations that provide farmer loans from $12.5 to $20 million dollars. However, there are climate problems in South America, where the coffee is being exported from, and are encouraging other people to reuse and recycle in order to change this and combat this situation.

  4. Starbucks is partnered with the envoirnmental defense fund to reduce the impact of cups. Since Starbucks is one of the most visited coffe shops in america there are going through alot of paper cups, which most arent being recyled. There goal is by 2015 100% of their cups will be reuasable and recyclable. " Our planet is our earth", an anonymous lady in the video said. If people that go to Starbuck's daily don't start taking action in recycling who knows what our Earth will become. These cups are a huge emviornmental liability, people feel like they are apart of the problem so they want to help solve it. In New York City there were 10 areas were cups could be recycled, this was done to help advertise recycling Starbucks cups. Now everytime i go to starbucks I can make sure to recycle my cup that I used, because one cup out of a billion is better then nothing.

  5. Starbucks is one of the stores out of thousands that wants to do something to help out the earth. By 2015 starbucks wants to make all of their cups 100% recyclable which means that this will be less damage to the earth.. What they have started was study in New York where they realized that their cups are similar enough to cardboard that they could be recycled as it. Starbucks decided this because they have realized that the future of Starbucks coffee depends on a grade of coffee bean that is becoming harder to find in South America because of climate change. From this reason is why, they want to make their cups recycable and want people to start recycling

  6. Starbucks is virtually one of the most powerful companies on our planet. THe 21st century runs on coffee and Starbucks has been supplying this necessity for nearly 40 years. Unfortunately they also serve their delicious drink in cups that make up 4 billion of the 500 billion paper and plastic cups per year. Their goal is to make their cups 100% recyclable. they have also made new plans for their stores. They recently announced all their stores would be water efficient, use 25% less water, and use local materials. 80% of their cups leave their stores. They experimented in New York by recycling the consumed cups and turning them into cardboard. The next day that cardboard was sent right back to New York City. As a student, I too can recycle and be conscious about my consumption of resources and production of waste.

  7. A lot of people go to Starbucks everyday and many cups are used to serve these people. Starbucks produces 500 billion of the paper and plastic cups per year. Each person has used over a thousand cups in their lifetime. If you take that and multiply it by millions of people, think about how may cups are used. Starbucks is now trying to help the world by using 100% recyclable cups in all of their stores by 2015. They are also trying to use localy grown products to prevent trucks from driving to their store and using all that gas. Starbucks coffee depends on a grade of coffee bean that is becoming harder to find in South America because of climate change. Starbucks wants people to pay more attention to climate change. We all should pay attention to climate change to help the world in global warming.

  8. Starbucks' goal is to make their cups 100%reusable or recyclable by 2015. But for now, they are putting their own bins inside the store in which you can recyle your cup. They came to the conclusion that their cups are close enough to cardboard that they can be recylcled as so. They are now realizing the effects the extensive use of our natural resources for the cups, and are taking action because this has led to climate change. The climate change makes the grade of coffee bean harder to find. The fact is that 80% of the cups walk out of the store with the customers.

  9. Stabucks, is trying in so many ways to make their company very earth-friendly. The first thing Starbucks did in 1996 was that they partnered up with environmental defense fund to reduce the impact of cups. In 1997 Strabucks introduced recycled content cup sleeves. In 2006, Starbucks introduced cups made out of paper and post-consumer fiber. Starbucks produces 4 billion paper and plastic cups each year. There goal by 2015 is that each of the Starbucks cups will be reusable or recyclable. They also said that there stores will be water efficient and use materials close by. They can turn their cups into cardboard and that can be recycled, which is exactly what they did in New York as an experiment. At my house i recycle everything that can be recycled. I recycle plastic, cans, and paper. When ever i see garbage on the ground i always try to throw it away.

  10. Starbucks' greatest environmental liability is their cups. Their goal is to make all their cups recyclable by 2015. About 80% of their cups walk out the door. To help solve this problem Starbucks is putting recycle bins in the store so that costumers can recycle their cups. There was a study in New York that showed that the cups are similar enough to cardboard that they can be recycled into cardboard.

  11. About 80 percent of Starbucks cups are taken away by customers. Whether these individuals recycle or merely throw away their cups is the question. To address the waste problem, Starbucks has made their cups out of some recycled materials and plan to put reusable cups in the stores by 2015. They also have put recycle bins in their stores. The idea came from the fact that it is getting difficult to grow coffee beans because of climate change.

  12. Starbucks wants to make their cups 100% recyclable and reusable by the year 2015. Until then, Starbucks has put recycle bins in their stores for people to recycle their used cups. If they use reusable and recyclable cups, this will help the evvironment. Starbucks is trying to find a place close by that grows coffee beans so they can help reduce the amount of gasoline used by delivery trucks. These beans are harder to find because they are grown in South America and are harder to find due to the climate change. When Starbucks introduces their new cups, everyone should get one and bring it to Starbucks each time they get coffee.

  13. Starbucks stores all over are concerned about our earth. Starbucks and its costumers have decided that we have to do something about all the starbucks cups used, and find a way to reduce our carbon foot print. Their goal is to use 100% reusable or recyclable cups. Starbucks wants to be better to the environment and try to stop global warming. This change will make costumers happier. On top of this all global warming's climate change has resulted in premium coffee beans hard to find. They are being forced to grow the beans high in mountains.

  14. Starbucks is hoping to make their cups 100% recyclable or reusable by 2015. Starbucks has been trying to convince their customers to recycle their cups for years. 15. Starbucks's biggest environmental liability is the amount of waste from their cups. 80% of their cups walk out the door and eventually end up in the streets or in a landfill. Starbucks realized that their cups are just like cardboard, and they were able to recycle their cups as cardboard. Soon, Starbucks hopes to make their cups 100% reusable or recyclable and reach this goal by 2015. Global warming caused premium coffee beans to be harder to grow. Starbucks realized how much of an impact global warming is making and they are trying to help stop it.

  16. Starbucks being a big and successful company has seen that their cups acumulate and create a lot of trash. Starbucks goal is to make all of their cups recyclable by 2015. They have also put recycling cans in order to encourage people to recycle. This is a great way to reduce waste and other companies should take action as well.

  17. Starbucks has created a goal in which to create a more eco-friendly take on the brand. Starbuck's cups are the greatest enviromental liability, since 80% is taken out the store, and in order to create a more eco- friendly style, they intend to make all their cups reusable or recycleable by the year 2015.
In New York they have set up a way to send out cups to be made into cardboard. This way, this only leaves us to take the initiative to recycle the cps rather than throw them into the garbage.
