Because of climate change many species must adapt to their warmer environment. One way of accomplishing this, is through the interbreeding of species, like this grolar bear, which is a hybrid between a grizzly bear and a polar bear. The specific bear that was shot, was very uncommon because it was a second generation hybrid, which means that its mother was a grolar bear and she mated with a grizzly bear. Scientists believe that such hybrids are occurring because, as the polar ice sheet is receding, polar bears are left stranded on the land that was once grizzly bear habitat. These new bears show how species are reacting and adapting to the warming climate.

Climate change has broken geographic barriers and opened the doors for new species. Global warming may be decimating, but species can, and will adapt.

A hybrid animal is a mixture of two animals with similar genetics to make one animal.Climate changes affects these species because the climate change afftects their habitat which and the availabily for food. What makes a species is the important classificatory category. A grolar bear isnt exactly a species because it can not reproduce another grolar bear.
The bear they found had a big white head, like a polar bear and thick white fur, like a polar bear but had brown legs and brown paws like a grizzly. This kind of bear is very rare because it only happens in cases where, a female grizzly-polar hybrid mates with a male grizzly. A hybrid is a mix of two different traits, and hybrid bears will become more and more common with the climate changing. These are species because they are and have to adapt to their surroundings and already have reproduced.

Climate change has caused these two species to desperately search for a mate, but they ended up with a different species instead. A species is defined a a group of organisms who can reproduce with each other. The Grolar Bear has no mates, so it cannot be defined as a species.
ReplyDeleteWhen a habitat is destroyed, new species can be formed. For example, the grolar bear is a cross between a polar and a grizzly bear. It is not named a real species yet, but scientists are working on it. A grolar bear is created when a female polar bear mates with a male grizzly bear. A species is an organism that belongs to a certain category. Since this is a newer non-species, it is not declared a species yet. Grolar bears can adapt to the warming climate and they will soon become a species.
ReplyDeleteAs grizzly bears move further north because of climate change, they are starting to interact more with Polar Bears, and as a result of their interactions and interbreeding between the two species, they produce a grizzly-polar bear named a Grolar Bear. Scientists are certain that the climate change is the main reason for the grizzly bears to move farther north than normal as the climates get warmer. A Grolar Bear is a new species just discovered recently, the bear still has the slight white fur so it is noticed at first glance as a Polar Bear.

Since there is less ice the polar bears will be forced to stay on land and will come into contact will many more grizzly bears, raising the chance that they mate and make more grolers. Groler bears are a species because the bear that was shot was a second generation, which means that grolers can reproduce with fertile offspring.

A grolar bear is a hybrid (a mix of two different gene pairs to become one) of a polar bear and a grizzly bear. As a result of climate change, there will be more grolar bears in the future. As ice melts, polar bears are forced onto land. There the polar bears mate with grizzly bears and produce grolar bear offspring. The grolar bear is not a species because a species is a group of animals in their own category that can mate and reproduce. Since the grolar found was very rare and the only 2nd generation grolar bear, it cannot reproduce, and is therefore not its own species.

The only grolar bear that was found, was a female and was a second generation bear so it cannot reproduce or mate so it isn't considered a new species.
ReplyDeleteThe grolar bear is a hybrid of a grizzly and polar bear that scientists hypothesize will become more common as global warming forces polar bears to migrate south from the Arctic. In the future, there will be more grolar bears in the result of climate change. While the ice is melting right now, polar bears are struggling to find land in order to keep safe. The grolar bear is not it's own species and therefore, it cannot reproduce. This species were found rarely and put into somewhat their own category of species.
ReplyDeleteBecause of global warming causing environment change, polar bears are moving south to find a new home. Biologists killed a strange polar bear that should not of been there. The weird part of the bear was that it had a Grizzly bear father, and a Polar Bear mother. This shows that the two species made a hybrid breed. This new hybrid is called a grolar bear. The grolar bear is not its own species however beacuse it cannot reproduce.

Polar bears are affected by climate change because the ice sheets that the live on are receding further back each year, forcing them to find food somewhere other than on the ice. When the polar bears come into contact with grizzlies, the meetings sometimes result in the hybrid birth of a groler bear. The groler bear has not yet been proven to have cubs with another groler bear, so it is not a new species.

As the climate changes in time we will have a whole lot more grolar bears and polar bears could have been driven into extinction. Grolar bears aren't a species because they can't reproduce and strive. Lastly a hybreed is a cross of two different animals.

ReplyDeleteA Grolar bear is a unique hybrid animal that is a mix of two different species, a polar bear and a grizzly bear. This hybrid animal is an example of how the polar bear and grizzly bear are adapting to the climate change. The polar bear has been forced to move from the melting snow peaks which caused the polar bear and grizzly bear to breed. The two species are dependent on each other for survival. Even though the grolar bear is not a species yet because it is very rare, in the near future more polar bears and grizzly bears will produce grolar bear offspring who will breed with each other and create a new species. This new species could eliminate the other two bears but it is necessary because of the climate changes.
